ABBY OBER
Abby is a fine artist who grew up overseas as the daughter of a foreign service officer, living in countries including Poland, Germany, Russia, India, and Greece. These early experiences helped shape her appreciation for diverse cultures and visual storytelling. She earned her BA in Fine Art from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and continued her studies in Graphic Design at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. After building a successful career in advertising design, Abby returned to her true passion—painting.
Her work is deeply rooted in observation and place, and she is an active participant in plein air events and competitions across the country. Recent highlights include Paint Annapolis (2024 and 2025), Easton Plein Air (2024 Honorable Mention, Small Works Sunday), Wayne Plein Air (2009, 2011, 2019, 2023 Revelite Award, and 2024 Sourcetek Award), and the Gloucester Plein Air Invitational (2023 Best Vanishing Landscape). She has also painted in the Winter Park Paint-Out (2020–2023), Wekiva Paint Out (2023), and Plein Air Adkins (2023 and 2024, awarded 2nd Place both years).
In addition to her studio and plein air work, Abby is passionate about teaching. She shares her knowledge and enthusiasm with students at the Wayne Art Center (PA), the Academy Art Museum (MD), and online through the Winslow Art Center (WA).
Abby’s work is represented by American/Holiday in St. Michaels, Maryland; Collectors Gallery in Venice, Florida; and Bozzuto Greene Art in Lutherville, Maryland.
